OVERVIEW
Paperlust, an Australian brand known for custom wedding invitations and stationery, saw an opportunity to expand into the B2B market with Paperlust Printshop. This new division caters to business clients by offering customizable wedding stationery in bulk, as well as stickers and labels, meeting the needs of industries beyond personal events.
PROBLEM
As Paperlust grew, we identified two key opportunities that prompted the need for a strategic pivot:
These factors highlighted the importance of developing a dedicated solution to better serve the evolving market and our clients’ needs. While our existing platform could accommodate some bulk requests, it was primarily tailored for individual buyers, complicating the experience for B2B clients who typically knew exactly what they wanted.
RESEARCH
In early concepting, we conducted an in-depth analysis of Paperlust’s customer orders, which revealed two distinct user groups: personal customers needing smaller orders and guidance, and business clients with specific requirements, often ordering in bulk. Further industry research highlighted a growing demand for stickers and labels, with high search volumes indicating strong market potential. These insights underscored the need to cater to businesses and informed the direction for Paperlust Printshop.
FINAL SOLUTION
Based on our research insights, we planned to launch a platform, Paperlust Printshop, that will offer customizable wedding stationery, stickers, and labels for businesses, with future plans to expand into other industries. By quickly designing and developing a user-friendly digital platform, we enabled businesses to easily customize and place bulk orders. This new site became a key part of expanding Paperlust's offerings and supporting businesses through efficient solutions.
STAKEHOLDER ALIGNMENT
We held biweekly meetings with the C-suite, department heads, development, customer service, and marketing teams to create an agreed-upon roadmap for the app’s development process, weighing the risks and rewards of potential platform choices.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
COMPONENTIZED DESIGN
Paperlust Printshop’s new user experience was built from the ground up, strongly backed by research, and fueled by strong user empathy. Through collaborative sessions, we established a cohesive design language throughout the platform. This system included a library of predefined and reusable components.
FINAL DESIGN
The final design features a comprehensive product page for wedding stationery with various customizable options for uploading ready-to-print designs. In contrast, the stickers and labels section has a different layout tailored for its limited options and is currently in development, with plans to improve functionality for efficient ordering in the future.
