DISCLAIMER

This project is part of the UI/UX training program implemented by Skilvul, for Kampus Merdeka program held by Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia. Kitabisa.com is the Challenge Partner. I am not working for nor contracted professionally by Kitabisa.com.

CONTEXT

Kitabisa, one of the leading crowdfunding platforms in Indonesia, is currently needing some improvements on their campaign updates feature. To give some contexts, the campaign updates is a feature for the donors to keep up with the updates of the campaign that they have donated it. The updates are associated with the progress of the campaign and the report of the disbursement from the campaigner.

CHALLENGE

How might we make donors to be emotionally involved in the campaign to which they have donated?

UX AUDIT

Upon starting the project, we conducted a thorough UX audit to identify areas for improvement in user experience and interface design. The audit revealed the need for enhancements in navigation and information architecture. Our findings, combined with user feedback gathered from the App Store and Play Store, highlighted that the usability of the app appears to be passable however it still has room for improvements in navigation and information architecture.

BENCHMARKING

We analyzed large crowdfunding platforms in Indonesia such as WeCare.id, BenihBaik.com, AmalSholeh, and Indonesia Dermawan to identify the reasons behind donors' challenges.

FINAL SOLUTION

After conducting competitive analysis, gathering information, and user feedback, we reached a clear understanding of user needs and pain points. Research also validated the initial hypothesis about the problems Kitabisa is trying to solve.

USER FLOW

We then formulated the flow to describe the possible steps that the users will go through to keep up with the updates of the campaign that they have donated.

FEATURE PRIORITIZATION

After gathering all of the ideas in one spot, we started creating a prioritization matrix. This is the stage when we compare one feature to the other and identifying the most important features and keeping the rests aside.

From that, we have narrowed it down and chose 6 solution ideas that will become our priorities (located on the “Yes, Do It Now” quadrant), which are:

  1. Creating a button for repeat donation.

  2. Providing category-specific filters or sort-by feature.

  3. Creating auto-message which allows campaigner to express their gratitude and appreciation to the donors through a message.

  4. Creating the “Read more” or “Continue reading” link button that follows a summary of a campaign update.

  5. Allowing campaigners to update the progress of the campaign by not only displaying pictures but also videos.

  6. Creating a section for the recommended and/or similar campaigns.

DESIGN SYSTEM

For this design system, we used Kitabisa Product Language as a guide in which it includes their color style, text style and iconography. As for the other components — such as input fields, button, cards, etc — we made it ourselves but still based on Kitabisa’s current app design.

FINAL DESIGN

Navigation

Ensuring easy navigation was our primary focus in this redesign. We segmented the campaign details screen into three categories using a module tab, allowing users to view information one category at a time: Campaign (general details), Kabar Terbaru (updates), and Rincian Dana (disbursement data).

Campaign Updates

The revamped and minimalist design simplifies the experience, making it effortless for users to scan content. It strategically guides attention to essential elements like headings, visual updates, and videos, ensuring a more immersive and intuitive user experience.

Similar Campaign Section

By providing a list of related campaigns, this feature will encourage users to explore more of the content therefore driving engagement and user retention.

Repeat Donation

We've introduced a new Call-to-Action (CTA) button for repeat donations, enabling users to contribute seamlessly to campaigns they've previously supported.

Thank-you Message

The final piece of the puzzle is that we've introduced a new feature enabling campaigners to express gratitude and appreciation to donors through personalized messages. With this addition, donors will feel valued, fostering stronger connections between campaigners and contributors.
